De La Soul‘s long awaited full length, And the Anonymous Nobody, was supposed to be released today [Friday, April 29], which would have been the legendary trio’s first album since 2004’s The Grind Date.

Due to unforeseen time delays, the release date has been pushed back once again, but rather than leave fans empty handed, Maseo, Dave and Posdnuos have dropped a surprise EP, For Your Pain and Suffering.

The four-track project is intended to appease fans until And The Anonymous Nobody sees the light of day. That album is funded by a Kickstarter effort that amassed $600,000 from more than 11,000 backers.

The EP’s cover art cleverly features an animated Posdnuos caricature running away from an upset crowd as he shouts, “August 26,” which is presumably the album’s release date.
