Just four months after giving birth to her and fiancé Iman Shumpert’s first born child “Junie,” Teyana Taylor is back on the stage not missing one single beat.

Last month Teyana announced her 10-city VII Unplugged tour would kick off on April 26 in Silver Spring, Maryland. Teyana’s debut studio album VII was released in November 2014 and captured the essence of classic R&B (as did her August 2015 release, The Cassette Tape 1994 mixtape). On her second stop of the tour, Teyana packed out a full house in her hometown at NYC’s Irving Plaza.

Teyana left it all on the stage holding absolutely nothing back. It was an emotion filled performance of hits such as “Put Your Love On” and “Maybe.” The passion for her craft was evident but the real tear jerker moment was Teyana bringing baby Junie on stage. Baby Junie slept peacefully in her mother’s lap with little baby headphones over her ears to drown out some of the overpowering noise. Teyana lead the crowd into her song “Sorry” by encouraging fans to “Never turn into your ex” despite the hurt and betrayal experienced. She was eventually brought to tears herself as she thanked her fans for their continuous support on a journey from when she danced her way into our hearts at the tender age of 16 to a well matured class act.
