Translated to English, the term “Konnichiwa” means “good day,” and that’s exactly what Friday will be for Skepta, the 33-year-old London rapper that’s caused major international waves over the last two years with a myriad of singles and features, most notably “Shutdown” and a collaboration with Drake and WizKid, “Ojuelegba RMX.”

Skepta’s just released his long-awaited new album, Konnichiwa, his first full-length LP since 2011’s Doin’ It Well, and certainly his most coveted project. Though the world’s burgeoning obsession with Grime, the London-based brand of rap of which Skepta is fluent, doesn’t begin or end with the “Shutdown” rapper, who is of Nigerian descent, he’s certainly its flagship artist, having also collaborated in the past with Puff Daddy.
