The show graces the Houston airwaves from Noon to 2 p.m. on 1520 AM. Chris Walker and Jim Hicks are featured on the show, which airs every weekday.

Walker is a former college basketball coach and has served as Texas Tech’s interim coach in 2012-2013. The two have Houston history, both in different aspects—Walker a Milby High School graduate and Hicks a Kashmere High School graduate, both in Houston.

The show covers a wide range of national and local sports topics, including Houston high school sports. Although, the hosts have a long history with basketball, Hicks doesn’t want listeners to assume it will be its sole focus.

“We named it the Chop Shop because we’re going to chop up, dissect, talk about and break down various topics in sports,” Hicks explained. “It’s not a basketball show. That’s the good thing about it.”

Reportedly being the first midday sports talk show in the city to feature two black hosts, Hicks is excited to make history.
