Yesterday (May 16), the punch heard around the world was when Texas Rangers 2nd basemen Roughned Odor struck Toronto Blue Jays hitter Jose Bautista with a clean punch to the jaw. Players from both teams rushed the field and it took umpires nearly 10 minutes to clear out the melee. Today, the hammer came down on Odor, who said after the game that he expected to be suspended and did not regret throwing the punch. MLB has suspended Odor for 8 games and hit him with a $5,000 fine.

Blue Jays manager John Gibbons was also hit with a 3 game suspension after he was ejected early on in the game and later returned to the field. According to Yahoo! Sports, Odor will appeal his ban.
