Today (Friday, May 20) Marvel announced that several big name stars will be joining the cast for the third installment of the Thor series, Thor: Ranarok.  The film is set to come out on November 3rd, 2017, and will be directed by Taika Waititi.

Joining Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston, as Thor and Loki respectively, as well as Idris Elba and Sir Anthony Hopkins, will be Cate Blanchett, Jeff Goldblum, Tessa Thompson and Karl Urban.

Mark Ruffalo was also announced to be reprising his role at The Hulk in the film. Cate Blanchett will be playing the villain Hela, and Jeff Goldblum will be playing the unusual Grandmaster.

Naturally, the producers of the film were very excited to announce this star studded cast, especially after all the success the Marvel franchise has had with it’s super-hero themed films. Producer Kevin Feige raved about the cast, saying:

“The sheer, raw talent each of these actors brings to the screen can’t be quantified. Having any one of them join the Marvel Cinematic Universe would be an honor, and having all of them is incredible.”

With such a great cast, this film will undoubtedly draw a lot of attention, and certainly perform well at the box office.
