There’s a highly anticipated, second time Rihanna and Dior collaboration on the way—a collection of Star Trek inspired sunglasses. And what better way to trademark your design other than naming it after yourself?
The “Rihanna” collection of sunglasses will be offered in one frame and six variations: silver, pink, blue, green, red, and 24-karat gold, reports WWD. They are expected to be available by June.
After working together on the Secret Garden IV: Versailles short film together, reports from Elle Malaysia state Dior CEO Sidney Toledano said, “We are very pleased to partner for the second time with Rihanna, she is an artist, an entertainer, an entrepreneur, a philanthropist, and a style icon for today’s generation.”
The collaborators have obviously built a rapport with one another, as things moved quickly. “The process was pretty seamless,” Rihanna said in a statement. “I spent the day at Dior with their eyewear design team. I started by looking through archives to see what they’ve done in the past, then got acquainted with all the new materials. I literally sat there and drew and drew until I was happy with the design, and the team illustrated it for me right then and there. We picked materials and colors that same day, and after that it was a matter of weeks before I saw the first prototype.”
