It’s been far less than a year since Travi$ Scott dropped his coveted debut album, Rodeo, but the Houston rapper isn’t easing his foot off the pedal. He’s already announced the titles of his next two projects, Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight and Astroworld, and he, along with 300 Entertainment head honcho Lyor Cohen, has been teasing a joint single with Young Thug for several weeks.
That single has finally arrived in the form of “Pick Up the Phone,” a Travi$ Scott and Young Thug single that also features Quavo (what a week it’s been for one-third of the Migos). The song, produced by Vinylz, invokes Travi$’ high-pitched chorus voice, which sounds as good as it’s ever sounded over a tropical set of synthesizers. Thug and Quavo also sound right at home on the single, as they deliver up-tempo verses, complete with Quavo’s hilarious “birds in the trap sing Brian McKniiiiiight” declaration as part of his close-out performance.
