On this day in Hip Hop history, west coast gangster rapper and Law & Order: SVU star Ice-T released his sixth studio album, Ice-T VI: Return of the Real (whose title comes from the cult classic final film of the original Star Wars trilogy Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi).

Much like the majority of his career, this album was riddled with tales of the ‘hood and what it was like to live the street life in Southern California. Released on Priority Records, this albums’ commercial success was on pace with his previous releases, peaking at #19 on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip Hop chart and appearing at #89 on the Billboard 200 chart.

The album’s single, “I Must Stand,” peaked at #83 on the Billboard Hot 100.
