As awkward as this may sound, kudos to C.J. McCollum. It’s no secret that pro athletes, especially NBA players, come under intense scrutiny when their post-career financials are not in order. Heck, Allen Iverson is doing just fine for himself but there’s still a general notion that he squandered ever last bit of his riches on chains and strip club sprees.

So, McCollum, who has already appeared as an analyst on ESPN after the Trailblazers were ousted by the Warriors in the second round of these NBA Playoffs, found himself on Facebook Live interviewing the man of the hour: Stephen Curry. After an unsure postseason period that saw him hobble out and back into the Western Conference semis, Curry has once again regained his mojo. He teamed up with a raging Klay Thompson to overcome a 3-1 series deficit against the Thunder in the West Finals, and willed the Warriors to a Game 1 Finals victory over the Cavs.

Still, you can imagine how awkward this was. McCollum does a good job of breaking the initial ice, thanking Curry for allowing him to win the Most Improved Player this season–Curry infamously finished 4th in the award’s voting, despite winning MVP last season–but there was of course talk of Curry’s infamous “I’m Back” game, during which McCollum was one of many defenders that were torched by Curry’s electric play.
