Los Angeles native JP Cali Smoov, who has worked with Wiz Khalifa, Snoop Dogg and now DJ Quik, has released the first single from his upcoming project, Jackie Robinson. Along with frequent collaborator, Problem, Smoov delivers a raunchy tale over DJ Quik’s seamless, West Coast style production.
After being in and out of the legal system, the 23 year old rapper experienced a life altering experience after flying to LA for a show. On the way to the venue, Smoov was in a fatal car accident, which resulted in the death of his two best friends. After months of rehabilitation, Smoov turned his life around and dedicated himself full time to making music.
As the winner of Snoop Dogg’s battle rap show for TrapFlixx.com, where he out-rapped 11 other aspiring rappers. Smoov is also an aspiring actor, who appeared in the N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Compton. His Black Sheep Club clothing line comes out later this year.
