Following the late pop star’s untimely death on April 21, Minnesota governor Mark Dayton officially declared June 7 “Prince Day” in Minnesota to mark what would have been his 58th birthday, Billboard reports.

After a few swirling accusations and assumptions on the cause of Prince’s death, it’s been confirmed the musical legend died from an overdose on painkillers.

Now the world is taking action to ensure the seven-time Grammy winner’s legacy lives on. In addition to Minnesotans wearing purple to pay homage to Prince, the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio, which inducted Prince in 2004, will also celebrate Prince’s day among much more recognition.
