Following the success of yet another successful Roots Picnic and a great start to summer, The Roots announced their expansion to New York City for a Roots Picnic to be held in Bryant Park this October. According to Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson, “New York is a second home to us. There’s going to be pop up shops there, really good curated food, comedy, DJ parties there and acts that you wouldn’t expect… We’re deeply involved in everything, from the grass area to the food you’re gonna eat to the music you’re gonna hear in between. We’re a part of all of that.”

The New York City Roots Picnic is to be held on October 1 and October 2. The artists to be featured include The Roots, D’Angelo, John Mayer, Kevin Gates, Wu Tang Clan and Jeremih just to name a few. Swizz Beatz, Lil Uzi Vert and DJ Jazzy Jeff are the artists privileged enough to make appearances in the Philly and New York edition of the picnic.

The group is said to have a close relationship with the executive director of Bryant Park, Dan Biederman, and the Bryant Park Corporation. In result, the New York City Roots Picnic is the first ticketed concert to ever be held in Bryant Park and just the start of many more events in relation to The Roots, music, comedy, and culinary ventures that will take place in the park.
