Apple’s MacBook Pro line hasn’t been updated in over year. In March 2015, the 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina was refreshed and the following May, the 15-inch was given an update. New MacBook Pros are clearly imminent this year and according to MacWorld.com, they could be announced as early as this month.

One report by DigiTimes seems to confirm Apple is gearing up to release new 13- and 15-inch MacBooks in the second half of 2016, specifically the last quarter. They will possibly feature hinges produced using a mechanism called ‘metal injection molding’.

Apparently inspired by Microsoft’s Surface Pro line of devices, the hinges are allegedly being manufactured by Ampenol, who makes hinges for Microsoft’s convertible tablet. These hinges have purportedly begun shipment for the 13-inch MacBook Pro.

Not only will the new models be faster, but better battery life is almost certain. The cost of the MacBook Pros will start around $1, 264.
