Gun violence in Florida has run rampant this weekend, and late Friday night it claimed the life of pop singer Christina Gimmie, a former The Voice contestant loved by peers and fans all over the world.
Last night, during her concert in Miami, FL, one of Gimmie’s close friends, Selena Gomez, took the stage and dedicated one of her records, “Transfiguration,” to the life of her fallen friend. In the video above you can see Gomez fighting back tears as she performs the song, making for a chillingly emotional moment felt throughout the entire venue.
During her time on stage, Gomez also addressed the crowd, and had this to say about Gimmie:
One thing about Christina and her family is that she holds her faith so closely to her. I think it’s not about a religion and it’s not about good deeds. I think she just had faith and I don’t really understand how this really happened, but I would like to dedicate this song to her.
