James Howell, a 20 year old Indiana native, was arrested for weapons possession and possible materials for explosives just hours before he was set to arrive at yesterday’s [Sunday, June 12] West Hollywood Pride parade.
According to TMZ, Howell was arrested less than a year ago for pointing a gun in a threatening manner. During this particular incident, he allegedly got into an argument with a neighbor and he drew his weapon out of anger. He was arrested for pointing a firearm at another along with intimidation.
Howell did not serve time in jail for his past crime since the charges were dropped for the firearm, and he was only charged for intimidation after pleading guilty. His punishment was only one year probation, which he violated yesterday.
Howell was arrested in Santa Monica early Sunday morning after a homeowner reported a prowler. Police found an arsenal in his car, including three assault rifles, high capacity magazines, ammunition, and a 5 gallon bucket with chemicals to make a bomb. He told police he had traveled to California to attend the Pride parade.
