Lil Kim has been added to the list of honorees at the VH1 Hip Hop Honors. The 2016 Hip Hop Honors: All Hail the Queens celebrates the female pioneers of Hip Hop, including Queen Latifah, Salt-N-Pepa, Spinderella, and Missy Elliot.
Lil Kim has made her imprint on Hip Hop since 1995, when she stepped into the rap game with Junior Mafia and followed up with her debut album Hard Core in 1996. Kim turned heads in the ’90s with her impeccable rhymes and outrageous fashion sense. She was one of the few female rappers with three consecutive platinum albums—Hard Core (1996), Notorious K.I.M (2000), and La Bella Mafia (2003).
According to UPI, Kim will be honored for her achievements as a “Grammy Award-winning, multi-platinum rapper, singer, actress and fashion icon.”
The VH1 Hip Hop Honors take place on July 11th in New York at 9 p.m. EST.
