It isn’t too common for the child of an all-time great athlete to inherit the same skill set of their parent, we’ve seen examples of this throughout history (CC: Marcus Jordan). With that said, there are some rare occasions where the skills are definitely passed down from one generation to the next, case in point, LeBron James Jr. The 11-year-old was perched alongside his father and two other siblings as the elder James held his post-game press conference after winning his third NBA Championship, but you could expect to see a lot more of him in a few years.
According to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin and Brian Windhorst aka “The LeBron Whisperer,” the 11-year-old James Jr. has already been offered scholarships by some of the the nation’s most prestigious basketball schools, Duke and Kentucky.
“He raised both arms, just as he did when he pinned Iguodala’s would-be layup against the glass with his right arm, and his 11-year-old son LeBron Jr. did the same (making it no wonder why he already has standing scholarship offers from both Duke and Kentucky, according to a source).”
While it is safe to say that mini-LeBron appears to be very promising, especially if you take a look at his highlight video below, LeBron himself isn’t too pleased that recruiting offers are coming in so early for his son. Just last year, he told CBS, “It’s pretty crazy. It should be a violation. You shouldn’t be recruiting 10-year-old kids.”
