2001 was a year filled with the highest of highs and the lowest of lows in Hip Hop and beyond, but one of the years’ greatest memories was the birth of the BET Awards.
Whitney Houston was honored for her iconic music career, Outkast owned the night, Eve delivered one of her most memorable early performances and Nelly brought the crowd to their feet with an unforgettable performance of “Hot In Herre.” In addition to all of that, a bonafide Hip Hop superstar by the name of Sean Carter was months away from releasing one of the biggest albums of his career and he hit the stage to perform a medley of fan favorites before being joined by a few familiar faces for an unforgettable BET Awards moment.
