Much of the talk surrounding this summer’s impending NBA free agency period is where Kevin Durant will land. Having spent all of his career as the centerpiece for the Oklahoma City Thunder, he is finally ready to test the market and will be meeting with 6 teams when he officially becomes a free agent on July 1. The Boston Celtics, Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Clippers, Miami Heat, San Antonio Spurs and Thunder will all have an opportunity to prove their worth to KD, with the Thunder even making a trade last week that not only makes them more competitive but also bodes well for their efforts of retaining Durant.

Though not mentioned on the list of teams the former league MVP will meet with, the New York Knicks have made it clear that he is their primary target for the offseason. It has been reported that Knicks president Phil Jackson even told the newly acquired Derrick Rose that he will be trying to bring the 7-time All-Star to the franchise. Today though, it has been revealed that Knicks star Carmelo Anthony has already gotten in on the fold, making phone calls to Durant in an attempt to lure him to the Big Apple.

Anthony to ESPN:

“You know, for me, it’s more just about just laying it all out for him, giving him the real. Being in that situation before and knowing how much he has to think about‎ and what he has go through, him not wanting to leave Oklahoma ‎[after] all the time that he spent there, I felt the same way when I was in Denver, spending 7 1/2 years there and then to have to make a decision‎. But you leave it up to him. He’s going to make the best decision for him. I think that’s the most important thing‎.”
