This year’s VH1 Hip Hop Honors will be dedicated to the Queens of Hip Hop. Appropriately titled “All Hail the Queens,” VH1 takes the time out to honor all female Hip Hop legends of our time. Although Eve hasn’t released any recent music, it’s only right she hosts the event as she was a major staple in rap during the late 90s and early 2000s.
Although Eve has halted her music career she’s been hard at work acting, starring in movies such as Barbershop 1, Barbershop 2 and most recently Barbershop: The Next Cut alongside Ice Cube, Nicki Minaj, Cedrick the Entertainer, Anthony Anderson and more. Her most recent movie was Barbershop: The Next Cut which released in April of 2016.
Eve’s last studio album came in 2013 entitled Lip Lock and her last album before that was in 2002, Eve-olution. Before Eve became an actress, she was a solo artist and the first Lady of Ruff Ryders being featured on their group album, 1999’s Ryde or Die Volume 1. She went on to release five solo albums between 1999 and 2013 and to be featured in many movies and her own TV show, Eve which aired from 2004 to 2006.
Eve has definitely deserved her position in VH1’s Hip Hop Honors: All Hail the Queens. The show will air live from the Lincoln Center in New York City on July 11th at 9/8c.
