Outspoken rapper Azealia Banks has been no stranger to making her position known on various issues pertaining to the Black community. While many have praised, and crucified, her in the past for using her platform as a way to speak up for those who may have previously gone unheard, the tables seem to have shifted as of late.
Noticeably, the 25-year-old artist has been seen with a lighter complexion than usual and this is by no mistake. In fact, Banks has been purposely using skin bleaching products to alter her appearance and the response on social media is just as evident.
Meeting mixed opinions, some fans are perplexed as to why the pro-Black Banks has decided to even begin the process of bleaching, with many claiming it’s a sign of hating her Blackness. On the other hand, there are those who are openly showing their support for Banks’ decision and believe it has no affect on her support for the Black community.
Regardless of the opinions of the public, Banks has opened up in defense of her decision to bleach her skin in a recent Facebook Live post.
