After releasing his singles “Gwan Big Up Urself” and “How I Feel,” OVO’s Roy Wood$ finally debuts his full-length project Waking At Dawn via iTunes.
The project combines Woods’ impressive range of vocals with contemplative percussion beats, making “Waking At Dawn” a moody yet euphoric project. The smooth melodic tracks embody the idea of waking at dawn in it’s composition, giving the cohesive full-length project a dope underlying theme. It starts with “Sonic Boom” which sets the tone for the rest of the project. From “You Love It” and radio smash “Down Girl” to “Switch”, “Why” and “Menace” there is a little bit of everything here from drama, pain, spirit and straight up love-making music in this project.
After being played on OVO Sound Radio, Woods has the ears and eyes of many listeners. His content so far has gained the co-signs of many, including Wiz Khalifa, Travis Scott, Joe Kay of Soulection and Justine Skye to name a few. His latest body of work has many convinced he represents the modern R&B sound that’s gaining momentum in Toronto.
