This coming Monday [July 11] Ace Hood will finally release his Starvation V mixtape. While the rapper has already dropped some songs from the project, this Rick Ross assisted record might be one of the standouts. On “Go Mode,” the two are in their zone representing for the streets, with The Mekaniks and Frank Dukes on the beat.

Following last month’s “4th Quarter,” Ace uses this track to show his loyalty to Rozay, rapping “My ni**a Fat Boy don’t trust you,” he raps. “I’ma squeeze clips.” From there, Ross follows up by rhyming about everything from the death of his friend in 1994 to making a Tupac reference. The duo work well together on this track and hold it down for Florida in a major way.

Hood says he wants to deliver something strong on this new banger. “Wrote this record from a show and prove perspective,” he tells Complex. “‘Go Mode’ to me is the equivalent of being in beast mode, just going after whatever it is you want by any means necessary.”

Ace and Ross are frequent collaborators who’ve teamed up on a slew of tracks throughout the years, including “Bugatti,” “Out Here Grindin’” and “I Ain’t Worried.”

There’s a lot of noise coming out of Florida right now, and big names like Ace Hood and Rick Ross continue to kick doors down along with their mutual companion DJ Khaled. Starvation 5 may cement Ace Hood exactly where he needs to be in terms of placement in this game. “Go Mode” gives us a peek inside of it.
