This past week has been exhausting as we’ve witnessed two more police brutality incidents that resulted in the death of two African American men. There are so many opinions as to what actions should be taken to prevent and eliminate such behavior from the very people who are supposed to protect us as citizens.
Of course, celebrities have major influence and in times like this we always encourage them to voice their opinion and assist in trying to implement a call to action. Yesterday [Thursday, July 8] Beyoncé and JAY Z both released statements via their websites about how they feel and where exactly they stand in regards to these recent fatalities. Other celebrities like Drake and Kanye West have reacted via social media. Whether a simple Instagram post or a Facebook share, or a few compassionate words on Twitter, many celebrities have used their platform to ensure they are in fact, human beings and that they don’t wish to keep quiet nor stand neutral.
As always, The Game is leading by example in the Los Angeles area as he chooses to be the voice for African Americans and Latinos. With 6.5 million Instagram followers, not only does Game passionately expresses his thoughts and feelings about the state of emergency going on right now, but he implements action to show that he is not all talk.
Last night The Game took to his Instagram to ask every one in the Los Angeles area to stand with him today. Recently, he has been using hashtags like #HateUsNotToday #HuntUsNotToday #HUNT #YouDontHaveToHuntUsLikeAnimals
Today The Game has followed through on his words and gathered all men (no women and children allowed) to march to the Los Angeles Police Department Headquarters in hopes of rectifying the situation peacefully. Snoop Dogg has solidified his support as one of the men on the frontline of the march.
We can only hope more celebrities will initiate such movements in their own communities.
