Detroit Venue Shuts Down Temporarily After Vic Mensa Protests Against Their “Unauthorized” Tweets

Vic Mensa has been one of the many active voices in the “Black Lives Matter” movement. He has not only marched in the streets, he also put together an EP that shed more light on a lot of situations occurring in America. So once Mensa caught wind that a venue he was set to perform at was anti-Black Lives Matters, it was a wrap for any further business to be done. However, there proves to be more to the situation.

Following tweets from Populux [Detroit Venue], Vic Mensa decided to pull out of his July 29 show. The tweets from the account were later justified by Populux, stating their account was compromised and are looking further into the situation to see what went wrong.

We didn’t authorize these tweets. We’re working to understand how our account was compromised,” their statement reads. “We stand in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement. Those people that know us understand who we are, our belief in equality of all people, and our love for all people.

The venue has made the decision to shut down operations for a complete week, at the least. Spokesperson Greg Bowens of the Majestic Theatre complex area confirmed the closing of the venue. Complaints with the Federal Bureau of Investigations and the Wayne County internet crimes task force have been filed by the owner.

Co-manager to rapper G-Eazy is encouraging all of his “colleagues” to pull out of their shows as well. Populux looks to sort the clutter out and get business moving again soon.
