According to Forbes magazine, Jay Z and Beyonce are the highest-paid celebrity couple, as the pair raked in roughly $107 million to take the top spot. Mr. and Mrs. Carter haven’t been able to claim this throne since 2013, but a big year from Beyoncé as well as Jay Z’s consistently expanding business portfolio likely gave the two the push they needed to eclipse the competition.
Specifically, Beyoncé’s had a huge year both in and out the booth. Her latest album, Lemonade, debuted at #1 upon its release in April, and she’s currently in the middle of her massive Formation World Tour, which has seen Queen Bey perform her rally cries and anthems at stadiums across the globe.
Hov, on the other hand, has enjoyed a quiet but proficient year. TIDAL is currently in the midst of its most successful run yet, dating back to January, and his acquisition of the Armand de Brignac champagne brand, coupled with the continued success of his record and media management company, Roc Nation, has made Jay the benefactor of some pretty lucrative and savvy maneuvers.
If you’re wondering who the Carters dethroned, it was Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris that took the title last year, and it’s easy to think of why. Arguably the biggest pop star on the planet hooks up with the biggest DJ on the planet, dollar signs tend to flow in abundance. Unfortunately, they split not too long ago, allowing for the On the Run duo to claim victory.
