All Hail The Queens!

Today [July 11, 2016] VH1’s Hip Hop Honors will be back from a six year hiatus. Grammy award-winning rapper and Philly native Eve is hosting the event, set to go down at the David Geffen Hall at Lincoln Center in New York City. The event’s purpose is to honor the female pioneers, trailblazers and trendsetters in Hip Hop.

The four legendary honorees for the night include:

Queen Latifah: The Jersey native and multi-faceted superstar is being celebrated for her contributions in the industry with tributes from Common, Da Brat, Naughty by Nature, MC Lyte, Rah Digga, Suga T, Yo-Yo and Monie Love.

Missy Elliott: The Grammy award-winning artist who paved the way for women in Hip Hop is being celebrated for her contributions in the industry with tributes from Timbaland, Pharrell, Remy Ma, Nelly Furtado, Trina, Eve, Tweet, Monica, Keyshia Cole, Jazmin Sullivan, Raven Symone, and Fantasia.

Salt-N-Pepa: The Hip Hop duo (with DJ Spinderella) that paved the way for women in Hip Hop and was the first to attain platinum status will be honored with tributes by Amber Rose, Keke Palmer, Ashanti and Dreezy.

And of course, a night of Hip Hop Honors wouldn’t be the same without industry trend-setter and rapper Lil Kim, who will also be honored and is said to be debuting her upcoming album during the ceremony.

This is a perfect time for VH1’s Hip Hop Honors to make a comeback, and it’s looking like this year will be one of the best, yet. The show airs live tonight on VH1 at 8/9c.
