Dallas rapper Bobby Sessions addresses what it’s like to be Black in America with his new video “Black America,” depicting hard-hitting news clips and social media footage that unravels the growing injustice of police brutality against African-Americans. This song was actually recorded back in 2015 after the death of Eric Garner and still holds relevant today because the issues of police brutality appear to only be getting worse, with names like Alton Sterling and Philando Castile most recently added to the tragic list.

Sessions opens up about how he has also personally been affected by police brutality. He talks about how his cousin James Harper was murdered in 2012 by police (while unarmed). The media clips for this video were compiled and edited by John Stewart, and the live footage was covered by Misa Sandoval and Nathan Dawson.

Although the visuals below can be difficult to watch, Bobby’s message is very powerful and something that should be seen and heard.
