When Fabolous and Jadakiss announced their collab mixtape Freddy vs. Jason, the Internet was in a frenzy. This wasn’t just a regular announcement of any two artists coming together for a joint project. This was two of the most beloved and talented artists in the game announcing they were coming together to deliver a 1-2 punch Hip Hop would be sure to feel the impact of as soon as it was released. Then, all of a sudden, the convos about the project seemed to get lost in the abundance of news and announcements from other artists.
Jada has stated in past interviews both he and Fab are currently working on multiple projects at the same time and how that is one of the biggest reasons for the hold up. This causes concern because sometimes when artists have too much on their plate, projects tend to get pushed to the side to never be heard from again.
This would be a shame, especially for a project of this magnitude because fans have been begging for a collab project between the two for years. Comparing the two emcees in a Hip Hop debate about who is the superior spitter is one of the hardest things to do, due to the level of talent held by each emcee. Both of their catalogs are incredible and it is very rare that you will find a verse where one of them slacks on a record. These are all facts that most Hip Hop fans already know.
But there is still hope indeed. The fact they aren’t just throwing out a project quickly to appease the fans gives us a reason to keep the faith. They seem like they are serious about this and want to give the project the proper amount of attention it deserves in order for it to have the biggest impact possible on the the culture. All we can do now is keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best. Maybe it will be a surprise release with no announcement. Stranger things have definitely happened in this game. Either way, the fans will be ready for this potential classic to drop whenever they see fit and their schedules permit. The buzz for it might have quieted down a bit, but it’s still there.
