The famed singer aims to make a difference as she teams up with The Right Productions to raise money for Michigan Women’s Foundation and Enough SAID campaign. The goal of the project is to raise enough money to test over 11,000 untested rape kits found in the Detroit Police Department since 2009.

Rape kits cost $490 each. Badu plans to donate $5 from each concert ticket at her Detroit concert on August 12 to help pay for the tests. Tickets range from $100 to $1,000. Proceeds will go directly to the cost.

The concert will take place at Chene Park Theater in Detroit on August 12, 2016. It aims to raise enough money to test the remaining 1, 341 kits of the 11,341 that needed to be tested. So far, the 490 Project has raised enough money to develop a county prosecution team to investigate unsolved rapes.
