DJ Khaled has been loudly proclaiming his ownership of the summer months for quite some time, but it’s become quite apparent here in 2016. After a scorching first half of the year, Khaled is making sure this summer is one we never forget, and that trend will likely continue this Friday now that he’s announced the release date of his new single.
Khaled has teamed up with Big Sean, Betty Wright and Kendrick Lamar for “Holy Key,” the third official single from his upcoming Major Key album, and it’s set to drop during Khaled’s We The Best show on Beats1 Radio this Friday (July 22). Aside from the fact that Khaled has once again teamed up with a couple of the biggest artists in the game–his last two singles have featured Jay Z, Drake and Future–“Holy Key” also has historical significance. The last time Big Sean and Kendrick Lamar teamed up for a summer banger, it was 2013’s “Control,” on which Kendrick rapped the most controversial verse of his generation (arguably).
Other known features on Major Key, which is set to drop the following Friday (July 29), are Rick Ross, Bryson Tiller, Kanye West and Nas. Check out the artwork for the album above, and the single below.
