Ever since Gucci Mane was released from prison, he has been in popular demand. He’s been featured on tracks such as Kanye West’s “Champions” as well as the Drake assisted “Back On Road,” and seems to be a very hot commodity in Hip Hop nowadays.

While in prison, Gucci continued to release projects at a faster rate than most artists who never suffered the setback of being locked up. Had it not been for the updates regarding his incarceration throughout his sentence, one might have not even thought he was gone due to his continued release of new material.

As his release date crept closer and closer, the buzz began to build more and more. There were “Free Gucci” hashtags all over social media as well as what seemed to be an even bigger fanbase awaiting his release than he had before he went in. Then came release day.

Gucci came out looking and sounding healthier than he’s been in his entire career. He has a girlfriend to help keep him grounded and he has been practically living in the studio. The buzz for his new album (“Everybody Looking,” released on July 22) seems to be at an all time high, and the only thing left to see is whether the buzz he’s had since his release going to carry over to units sold once the project is released. Is Gucci going to have career high numbers or is the buzz just temporary due to him recently being released from prison?

Material wise, he’s delivering the same Gucci he’s been giving us since he started, so one would imagine the great deal of support has been coming from pre-existing fans of his as opposed to newer fans. But will the same fans that voiced their pleasure with his release be there to support the album when it drops Friday, or is Gucci just the popular artist to like at the moment? One things for sure, the man seems focused on his work and ready to vent everything that he dealt with during his imprisonment. While this next project surely won’t be the most lyrical material, it seems like Gucci is doing Gucci at 100 percent right now and fans of his music should be expecting a dope album.
