It’s crazy how much rap victories have changed in 2016. Gucci Mane releasing his ninth studio album, Everybody Looking, and it coming in at number two on the Billboard 200 (and moving 68,000 units) can certainly be looked at as a victory.

It’s been six years since Gucci landed this high on the chart—the Atlanta rapper’s last high being in 2010 when his LP The Appeal: Georgia’s Most Wanted came in at No. 4

Gucci, almost inevitably at this point, could not dethrone Drake at the No. 1 spot. Views has now spent 12 weeks there. Drizzy has virtually spent three full months atop the charts, a feat that hasn’t been accomplished since 2011-2012 when Adele did it with her album 21. Her album ended up remaining number one for a full 24 weeks. Views just boxed out the 11 week run at No. 1 by Taylor Swift’s 1989 in 2014-2015. Now that of course, would have been a victory in any era of rap.

Fortunately, Gucci Mane and Drake are currently working on a joint project titled 6’ers. Frequent collaborator Zaytoven confirmed that the project is in motion. “It’s in the works right now,” said the “So Icy” producer. “When Drake came over to the house to shoot a video, he and Gucci discussed making something. It will be a small EP. I think it might be called 6’ers, you know, because Gucci is from Zone 6 and Drake is from Toronto, the 6. It’s definitely happening.” If “Back On Road” is any indication on how these two heavy weights will sound on wax together, then 6’ers will certainly be a real wave.
