As summer comes to an end and Fall approaches, America’s sport makes way for return to our televisions for roughly six months of pure entertainment. Fans can’t help but hope that their favorite team will conquer the competition and make their Super Bowl appearance in February just as the Broncos and the Panthers did for Super Bowl 50.

When it comes to Cam Newton, he’s not only hoping to make another appearance but his overly abhorrent attitude towards losing almost demands that he makes another return to the football championship, and this time claim victory for sure.

In an interview with GQ Magazine, Newton states:

“It’s all about winning. I’m not trying to sound like Charlie Sheen, but it is. We live life, like, America, we’re taught to become, you know, successful, and success comes with winning.”

We also learned that Cam Newton is a pescatarian [seafood based diet] who uses such a diet to test his self-discipline. He states:

“I feel if I can control myself not to eat meat, I can control myself not to litter. If you can control yourself not to litter, then you can control your choice of words. If you control your choice of words, you can, you know, kind of go down from there.”

As a highly scrutinized African American athlete, Cam Newton has faced what some may consider extreme racism. But to him, or at least at this point in his life, he isn’t phased by the opinion of others in no way, shape, form, or fashion. He told Zach Baron when asked about football fans attitude towards him:

“It’s not racism. Everybody’s entitled to their own opinion. I’ll let you be the judge. I don’t look at it like that. I look at it like some people have certain beliefs, and I have my own belief, and we can agree to disagree on certain things. But this is what makes sports so amazing, that we can start a discussion around a table, in the newspaper, in the magazines, that will get people’s attention. And that’s what sports does.

I don’t want this to be about race, because it’s not. It’s not. Like, we’re beyond that. As a nation.”

It’s safe to assume Newton will be back with a vengeance this season. Despite the comments and opinions of passionate football fans across the country, Cam Newton is one of the best quarterbacks and entertainers the world of football will ever see. He’s growing as an athlete and a man right before our eyes.
