On August 19, Samsung announced it would be closing its Milk Music streaming service on September 22. Samsung told current users to switch to Slacker, which has been powering Milk since its launch. The company said:

We have made the strategic decision to invest in a partner model focused on seamlessly integrating the best music services available today into our family of Galaxy devices. We believe that working with partners will accelerate innovation, enhance device sales and provide amazing new experiences for our customers.

Milk Music was a Pandora-like free personalized radio service. Samsung had hoped to enter the video space when it launched video aggregation app Milk Video, but it ended up not being viable, so they closed it a year ago. Miguel, Passion Pit and Pusha T performed at the company’s launch in 2014
