Dame Dash has linked up with Preachers Of L.A. executive producer Lemuel Plummer to develop a TV series that will tell the story of Roc-A-Fella Records. The label co-founded in 1996 by Dash, Kareem Burke, and Jay Z, and by the 2000s featured an epic roster of artists including DJ Clue, Beanie Sigel, Memphis Bleak, Cam’ron, and Kanye West.

“It means a lot that Damon trusts us to tell the story – the true story – of how two global music icons got their start and did nothing less than redefine pop culture,” said Plummer. “That story is so unbelievable and yet so true that we know we have an awesome responsibility as storytellers to get things right.”

According to Deadline the show that say will deliver a “brutally honest account” of the Roc-a-Fella story, as well as detail “Dash’s relationships with Aaliyah and Rachel Roy” and the end of his business partnership with Jay.

“It’s about the actual [behind-the-scenes] story that’s never been told,” said Dash. “Roc-A-Fella as a movement wasn’t revolving around one person, but that’s the way it was made to look.”

Plummer hit Instagram to celebrate after the news broke, writing, “I’m very excited and honored to tell such an EPIC story from a unique and different point of view. Bout to be ??. Let’s get it.”
