After Forbes has crowned Jay Z and Beyonce the world’s highest paid celebrity couple, it looks like they will continue to widen the gap in 2017. Bey is still traveling the world on her last leg of the Lemonade World Tour, and while Jay has been accompanying her city to city – he has just closed a major film and TV deal with The Weinstein Company film studio.
Jay Z’s two year contract with The Weinstein Company involves him producing a series of scripted and unscripted television and movie projects with TWC having first-look options with the rapper. Jay Z proves his value even in the world of film being that director, Antoine Fuqua, is the only other first-look deal TWC has contracted.
In light of his new deal, Jay Z stated:
“I’m excited to tell stories from real life prophets, whom through their struggles have changed the world for the better, and others whose stories are filled with fantasy and delight,” Jay Z said. “Harvey and David are visionaries both of whom have done this time and time again. I’m already passionate about what we currently have in the pipeline and I’m looking forward to discovering others.”
TWC’s co-chariman, Harvey Weinstein states:
Having known Jay on a personal level for many years, we are thrilled by the opportunity to expand our relationship. Jay’s ability to influence entertainment and pop culture has gone well beyond music for many years. He approaches every aspect of his career with both determination and effortlessness, making him one of the leading power players in entertainment history.”
