According to a Hollywood Reporter report, Chris Rock has signed a $40-million deal with Netflix for two stand-up specials. That price, $20 million per show, is reportedly more than what other A-list comedians have earned, such as Louie C.K., Jerry Seinfeld and Amy Schumer.

These specials will air in 2017, and they will mark Chris Rock’s return to television as a comedian. The last major event for Rock was the Oscars, and since then he’s also made guest appearances on Empire. This news comes as blow to HBO, who Rock has had a long relationship with, as Netflix gets a top comedian to jump over to their streaming service.
According to the report, the first special will follow a world tour that is in the works. It is unclear when that special will air, or when the second special will be filmed.
