Corinne Bailey Rae released the music video for her sweet-sounding “Hey, I Won’t Break Your Heart” and it’s that gorgeous, vintage circus of our dreams.

The visual comes from her latest album, The Heart Speaks In Whispers. The single itself is the prettiest breakup song we ever did hear — which is why Bailey is surrounded by sad French clowns. The creative direction is unique from the singer elegantly in a feather number to the blacklight dance she does as a clown.

Maybe, the singer is suggesting the spectacle of an on-and off relationship with her video theme. You see circus performers but a shot off the stage proves no one is watching. The circus is seemingly empty and along with the crowds of people, the joy and amazement is gone too. Love is the same way. Once your partner leaves, the happiness seems to go with them. Bailey and her gang of entertainers await for their own joy to return just like you wait for that person to come back despite the hurt the breakup caused you. She sings, “So come bring your love here with all its mistakes/ Speak to me softly like lovers do/Here are the fragments I saved for you.” As the clowns practice, the circus is ready when those who once adored it are. Bailey is the same way.
