Kevin Curran, a writer and producer on The Simpsons, died on Tuesday, Oct. 25, after suffering from complications from cancer. The six-time Emmy winner was 59 years old.
“Kevin Curran was a sweet, brilliant man who said many hilarious things, some unprintable, others which will live forever in a children’s cartoon,” Simpsons executive writer and producer Al Jean said in an official statement regarding his colleague’s death. Curran started working on The Simpsons in 1998 as a consulting producer. He stayed with the animated show through 2015, earning three Emmys for Outstanding Program in 2003, 2006, and 2008.
In addition to The Simpsons, Curran also a contributed to Late Night with David Letterman and Married… with Children. He received three Emmys from 1985 through 1987 for his work on Letterman.
Animator and Simpsons director David Silverman echoed Jean’s grief on Twitter, tweeting “RIP our talented friend Kevin Curran.”
