Now that Donald Trump has seemingly accomplished the impossible, becoming the President-elect despite never having held any prior political office, it opens the door for many other hopefuls to one day become the commander-in-chief. Having already announced that he plans to run for POTUS during the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards, the possibility of Kanye West one day running for the highest office in the land does not seem as far-fetched as it did a year ago.

Even though many thought that it may have been a joke or just a whimsical statement he made, West is indeed very serious about a campaign for 2020. In an extended interview with BBC Radio 1’s Annie Mac, the Chicago rapper expounded on his potential presidential bid.

“When I talk about the idea of being president, I’m not saying I have any political views. I don’t have views on politics, I just have a view on humanity, on people, on the truth.”

“If there is anything that I can do with my time and my day, to somehow make a difference while I’m alive I’m going to try to do it.”

Though it seems that he has the best interests of the people in mind, only time will tell if this is something that he legitimately wants to pursue. The full interview is slated to be released Monday, November 14th.
