The scene of Hip-Hop has witnessed and felt a dramatic change through the last couple of years. Of course, there’s always change within the industry, but artist like Lil Uzi Vert, Playboi Carti, and Lil Yachty, have shattered the backboards of their own pickup game. Lil Uzi Vert arguably leads the way, connecting the dots of Hip-Hop, pop, and rock and roll; he’s a genre bender. Being the wild card that he is, there’s hate that comes with his artistry, but what’s love without the rage?
Uzi took to his Instagram to announce Luv Is Rage 2. In October of 2015, the Philadelphia native released his mixtape Luv is Rage. Released under Generation Now and Atlantic Records, the project was Uzi’s third tape, but it was a vital release for the 22-year-old rapper. Featuring songs like “Super Saiyan,” “All My Chains,” and “Belly,” Uzi put his signature stamp on his sound. He twisted flows from his influences like: Chief Keef, Young Thug, and others. Uzi would go on to release three projects since then, and he’s showing no signs up stoping.
So far, it’s sounding like Uzi is tapping more into the lyrical aspect, opting to stray away from the melodic and cadence-driven sound that got him to this point. Just to remind you, Uzi and Gucci Mane just released their collaborative mixtape 1017 Vs. The World.
There’s beauty behind the constant drop of music. Uzi seems to be switching up his sound dramatically in his snippet. Check it out below for yourself.
