The black and white video, shot by Bradford Young shows Common rapping the lyrics to “Letter to the Free” in a prison. Throughout the video, Common can be seen rapping along side musicians in different parts of the penitentiary . A symbolic, 3D, black square, floats throughout the clips.

Common created “Letter to the Free” with Karriem Riggins as well as Robert Glasper which discusses slavery and mass incarceration.
