Nike teams up with the Vice President of Creative Projects at Nordstrom, Olivia Kim – for the throwback Cortez Premium iD release. The inspiration comes from the mid-1970’s navy nylon/suede Cortez sneaker. The new edition offers a modern version with pink on the midsole available in white, black and navy nylon, and suede upper options.
The selection was an original favorite by Kim, who spoke on the overall project.
“The Cortez is an iconic sneaker and staple of LA style and youth culture. I’ve been wearing Nikes since I was a kid, and the Senorita Cortez from the late ’70s was the first Cortez I remember. For the 45th Anniversary of Cortez, and as a tribute to that sneaker, I wanted to reinterpret it with some original elements but flower it with a bit of 2017.”
The sneakers released [June 19th] at select Nordstroms along with nike.com/nikeid
