It was last week, as one-half of duo Outkast, Big Boi made his rounds promoting his latest solo album Boomiverse that he stopped by New York’s Hot 97 and made a striking revelation.

Sitting down with Peter Rosenberg and Laura Stylez, he mentioned that Outkast and A Tribe Called Quest were actually in the process of creating a collaboration album.

Unfortunately, ATCQ member Phife Dawg’s untimely passing last year deterred the two groups’ plans.

Q-Tip flew to Atlanta with Ali Shaheed Muhammad, we all met at Dre’s [Andre 3000] house,” he said, speaking on the effort that would’ve been dubbed A Tribe Called ‘Kast. “We got to the point of picking out beats for the album. Then, some kind of way, everybody started doing stuff, and then Phife… you know. It definitely was happening, though.”

The Atlanta emcee went on to inform us that he and Phife managed to lay down some verses on a few tracks together, however, and he hopes to release them soon.
