Pro-choice or pro-life, which one are you? The topic of abortion is a delicate issue that men seem to  want to have an input in more than women these days. Well now the Republican-House with President Trump’s support has approved a bill that would ban all abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy. Although the bill has been approved, it still has to go through the Senate in order to become a law. Many will argue that at 20 weeks, a fetus has reached the physical features that can experience pain.

Back in 1973 in Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court ruled that a women’s rights to abortion were protected however if this new bill becomes a law, it seems that decision made over 40 years ago now comes with stipulations. Women will still have the right to an abortion after 20 weeks in the case of rape, incest, or if the pregnancy is causing danger to the life of the mother. Otherwise, the sentence for an abortion after 20 weeks under this bill is a maximum of a five year jail sentence.

Is this bill going to pass through the Senate? Who knows? If passed as a law, this is just going to increase abortions without the use of licensed doctors and proper materials. This isn’t the first time abortion has been discussed and it probably won’t be the last. Organizations like Planned Parenthood are outraged by this bill. This bill has been passed by the House before back in 2015 but was rejected by the Senate then. We now have to wait and see what Senate decides.
