Terry Crews is well known for his roles in White Chicks and Everybody Hates Chris, but it’s ironic how he got his big break.
He explained on Complex’s First We Feast: Hot Ones that he was a security guard on set of Next Friday, and was assigned outside of Ice Cube’s trailer because he was the “biggest guy”. “Hey, Mr. Cube,” Crews will greet him while on the job and remembered the rapper-turned-actor being “dismissive”. But then one day Cube remembered Terry being an extra on Training Day: “That’s when he was like ‘hey that’s the dude that was out there doing security and the whole thing.'”
One thing led to another and Crews got an acting opportunity on Friday After Next, which he said changed his life “forever”.
