Harvey Weinstein has been making headlines following accusations of a series of sexual harassment and assault claims. Some of the accusers are Hollywood’s top actresses like Angelina Jolie and Gwyneth Paltrow. Some came to his defense like Donna Karan, meanwhile others expressed their disgust.
Former President Obama and his wife Michelle Obama are the latest to show their distaste towards Weinstein’s alleged accusations. Rightfully so, because one of their prized possessions, Malia Obama, interned for his company back in January.
Michelle and I have been disgusted by the recent reports about Harvey Weinstein. Any man who demeans and degrades women in such a fashion needs to be condemned and held accountable, regardless of wealth or status. We should celebrate the courage of women who have come forward to tell these painful stories. And we all need to build a culture — including by empowering our girls and teaching our boys decency and respect — so we can make such behavior less prevalent in the future.
Weinstein was a huge Obama supporter and raised millions of dollars for the Democrat party while he was in office.
