Two unstoppable forces are teaming up, LeBron James and Gabrielle Union, to produce a new comedy on ABC titled White Dave. It will be a single-camera comedy from filmmaker David E. Talbert.
In White Dave, written by Talbert and based on his experiences growing up, a young African-American teenager goes from living in an all-white suburb to have to shift gears and move to an all-black neighborhood after his mother remarries. With his production company, Springhill Productions, LeBron will executive produce the show. Union and Maverick Carter (James’ producing partner) will coproduce the show.
Gabrielle Union is currently on tour with her new book, We’re Going to Need More Wine, and is wrapping up her hit show, Being Mary Jane, with a 2-hour series finale set to air in 2018. LeBron James plays for the Cleveland Cavaliers this NBA season and has three shows he has been working on: Survivor’s Remorse on Starz, a game show titled The Wall, and an HBO show dedicated to the sneaker culture.
No word on the case of White Dave but everything Gabrielle Union and LeBron James touch becomes a winner.
